The City of Zachary recognized Robert "Bob" Odom, 78, the former Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry for the state of Louisiana at its Tuesday, Sept. 11, meeting.

Odom was given a key to the city for his leadership and contributions to the Zachary and state of Louisiana.

Mayor David Amrhein proudly presented Odom with the honor and noted that the recognition was long overdue.

"We cannot begin to thank him (Odom) enough for all of the many outstanding things he has done for the city of Zachary and for Louisiana," Amrhein said.

Odom served as Commissioner from 1980-2008.

Now in the private sector, Odom operates a consulting company that works with farmers on a statewide and national basis. He offers input on farm legislation before the U.S. Congress.

Odom resides with his family in Zachary.
