Grandparents Support Group to meet monthly in Baker

A grandparents support group for persons raising their grandchildren or other related children will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Baker Branch Library, 3501 Groom Road.

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month.

A guest speaker, door prizes and refreshments will be provided at each meeting.

Louisiana is third in the nation for grandparents raising grandchildren.

There are over 150,000 grandparents raising grandchildren in Louisiana.

There are over 10,000 grandparents raising grandchildren in Baton Rouge according to the 2010 Census.

Especially for grandparents, a Spring dance will be held Saturday, March 9, at the Kristenwood reception hall located on Greenwell Springs Road, owned by Spencer Smith.

Tickets to attend the dance are $5 per person.

The organization's annual conference will be held Friday, May 3, at the Holiday Inn on Airline Highway.
