The Bronco Backers, an all-sport Booster club for Zachary High School, is bringing back the one-night shopping extravaganza, Ladies Nite Out.

Formerly a Chamber of Commerce event, the annual fundraiser will now be sponsored by the Bronco Backers and is scheduled for Thursday, July 19, from 5 - 9 p.m.

For one night only, over 30 local businesses, artisans, vendors and more will gather at the ZHS Academic/Athletic building to sell their goods, wares and specialty items to shopping ladies.

Special this year will be the introduction of several ZHS coaches' wives who will also speak at the event.

Whitney Weiner, Wanda Carrier, Paula Moreau, Nakeisha Cleveland and Jodi Watts, wife of ZHS Principal Wes Watts, will be in attendance, and several agreed to share some insight into their lives and into the lives of their families with the Zachary Plainsman.

Meet the Wives

Whitney Weiner, wife of Zachary High's Head Football Coach Neil Weiner, is the Director of Mother's Day Out and the pre-school program at First Presbyterian Church, located in downtown Baton Rouge.

Whitney is a member of the Bronco Backers and First Baptist Church of Zachary.

Together, the Weiners are raising three kids - Matthew, 8, Abigail, 6, and Emily, 2.

"Before meeting Neil, I knew very little about football but have come to love the sport," said Whitney. "It's one of my favorite things to do in the fall...watch Monday night football with my husband."

Wanda Carrier, wife of Chris Carrier, ZHS Asst. Football Coach and Head Track & Field Coach, is an Administrative Assistant to the Vice Chancellor & Athletic Director at LSU.

Wanda is a member of the Bronco Backers, Century Club and the Bengal Belles.

The Carriers have lived in Zachary since May 2012, but Coach Carrier has been at ZHS for the past four years.

Wanda and Chris have two boys in the Zachary school district - Christopher, an incoming sophomore, and Cameron, who will be in the 9th grade.

"I look forward to becoming more involved with the Zachary community now that we live here," Wanda Carrier said.

Paula Moreau, wife of Head Wrestling Coach Mark Moreau, says her husband will be entering his eighth year at ZHS and his 28th year of teaching Algebra I and coaching.

Paula teaches pre-school to 2-year-old children at First Presbyterian Church, Baton Rouge.

"We have three terrific teenagers - Madeline, who will be attending Northwestern Middle School, Malena, who attends LSU, and Matthew, our only boy, attends Catholic High School," said Paula.

"With two of the closest people in my life commuting to Zachary every day, my heart tugs a little more to the North nowadays (sic)," Paula says of her husband and daughter's commute to the ZCSD. "It gets really interesting in our household when our son's wrestling team goes head-to-head with his dad's wrestling team at ZHS!"

Paula Moreau said she feels her family has been blessed to be a part of the Zachary Community School System.

LNO

In addition to meeting and hearing the wives speak, LNO will also feature a fashion show including couture from local boutiques, tours of all ZHS athletic facilities, catered hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages.

Ladies are invited to shop 'til they drop while taking their chances at winning one of nine door prizes worth $50 or more. Door prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes throughout the evening.

In addition, raffle tickets for a $500 spirit pack will also be sold. The spirit pack includes Bronco spirit wear and gear.

A school monogramming booth will be located on site and available for $2.50 per shirt, however, you must provide your own shirts.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and are available now at the ZHSAA building or by contacting Eden Logan at 933-7982 or Dianne LeBlanc at 658-7332.

"We're bringing back Ladies Nite Out, and we're thrilled about all the wonderful features in store for the evening," said Logan, Bronco Backer committee member.

Logan and fellow committee member Dianne LeBlanc said they hope the event will grow and require next year's LNO to be held in the ZHS gym.

All vendor booths must set up by 2 p.m. on July 19. Vendors, you are also responsible for your own materials, supplies, chairs, tables, etc.

Bronco Backers will provide each booth with their own banner/sign.

Contact Eden Logan at 933-7082 or Dianne LeBlanc at 658-7332 or e-mail zhsbroncobackers@cox.net for application or more information.
