The ZHS Lady Broncos brought the house down Friday night in a nailbiting semi-final game against Broadmoor when the girls nearly took it into overtime.
The Lady Broncos trailed the entire game by several points until the fourth quarter when they rallied and were able to bring the game to 1-point lead at 46-45 with mere seconds remaining.
When it looked like head coach April Brown and her Lady Broncos would be defending their tournament championship title, a Bronco sophomore player on the sidelines ran onto the court thinking the game was over.
The referees fouled ZHS allowing the Lady Buccaneers a chance to score.
However, at the same time, Broadmoor fouled Zachary, and the match came down to a free throw battle with five seconds on the clock.
But the Lady Broncos persevered, ending the match with a 48-45 victory over the Broadmoor Lady Buccaneers who played a fantastic match.
The ZHS Lady Broncos defend their title as tournament champs today when they play Peabody High at 1 p.m.
Don't miss exciting basketball action today at ZHS as the boys and girls finals are determined.
