The fifth anniversary of Lane's Cardiovascular Center was celebrated Sept. 22 by hospital staff, cardiology personnel, doctors, nurses, patients, family and friends.

In 2006, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Lane Regional Medical Center formed a partnership to bring a full-range of cardiovascular expertise and world-class cardiologists to Zachary.

Since then, more than 4,000 patients have received cardiovascular care and more than 2,100 cardiovascular procedures have been performed in the catheterization lab.

Members of the Zachary community were invited to join the medical groups for an open house celebration at the CIS Zachary clinic, as they celebrated five years of world-class cardiovascular care in Zachary. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served.

Dr. Deepak Thekkoott, of the CIS Zachary office, and Randy Olson, CEO of Lane RMC, each received a plaque recognizing the five-year anniversary of the partnership for cardiovascular services at Lane.

CIS and Lane jointly provide the most advanced cardiovascular care in the region - from risk assessments to emergency services and cardiac rehabilitation. CIS and Lane have also brought a multitude of breakthrough cardiovascular technologies to East Baton Rouge Parish for the first time.
