Last week Mayor David Amrhein signed a contract with GM Builders of Baton Rouge, which was awarded a $306,200 contract to build the new Zachary Community Food Pantry near the existing site at 5376 Rollins Road.

Mayor Amrhein and Zachary Councilmembers will break ground for the new Zachary Community Food Pantr Thursday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

The new facility will be located directly behind the current Food Pantry on property that was donated by the Zachary Men's Club.

“The present Zachary Community Food Pantry operates in a building that is small and inaccessible in many ways. The new facility will be approximately 3,000 square feet and will offer a waiting area and three offices for food pantry staff to better serve families in our area,” said Amrhein.
