Like the line in the sand that can divide people on some issues, there seems to be a Rolling Stones yin to every Beatles' yang.

You don't have to look far to find that equal but opposite counterpart of nearly every iconic person, place or thing.

Time transcends them... or produces new ones. But most people seem to prefer one thing over another as opposed to the finality of you either are or you aren't. Live or die. Do or don't.

You're either pro-Robert DeNiro or pro-Al Pacino but not equal fans of both. What about Marlon Brando or James Dean - isn't one your favorite over the other? Do you prefer Meryl Streep or Diane Keaton?

Eagles over Steve Miller or Led Zeppelin over Black Sabbath? I bet you were a Bewitched fan more than an I Dream of Jeannie one. How about The Munsters vs. the Addams Family?

Ok, I may be dating myself. For those of you who have no idea who/what I'm taking about, you prefer Mac over PC, Stephen King more than Dean Koontz and your love of the Hunger Games trilogy far outweighs your love for the Harry Potter series. Is that better?

BMW or a Benz? Brad Pitt or George Clooney? You relate more to Julia Roberts than you do Sandra Bullock, and Rihanna is a much better singer than that Nicki Menaj chick.

Nike rules Reebok, Gatorade is better than Powerade and you prefer Coke over Pepsi (duh) and the lists, literally, can go on forever!

However, recently, I noticed a sub-species of humans living among us who don't quite fit the mold of "one over the other." I call them "non-watching Olympic people."

You know the ones, they are either really into the Olympics or not at all! How can this be? How can you not be into watching the Olympics? How can you not be into all the backstories of sacrifice, triumph and the blood, sweat and tears it took these athletes to make it to the games?

Yet, this species exists. I was even labeled a nerd by a member of this species for being really, really into the Olympics. (???)

I thought everyone was, at the very least, a Summer Olympics watcher more than a Winter one. But to be called a nerd for watching the Olympics!?!?

I mean, OMG, wutevs.
