Rollins Place Elementary, which opened its doors to students on Jan. 22, shares a 69-acre tract of land with Zachary Early Learning Center for Pre-K students.
RPE is the 8th school to open in within the Zachary Community School District and is now home to first- and second-graders.
The $18 million elementary school, located at 4488 Rollins Place, is 105,000 sq. ft. and will hold a maximum of about 1,000 students in its 42 classrooms.
In addition to the 42 classrooms, RPE features a cafeteria with stage, indoor physical education space, a library/media room and music and art areas.
Former Zachary Elementary School Principal Jennifer Marangos now serves as principal of Rollins Place, and Copper Mill Principal Dewey Davis moved into Marangos' spot at ZES.
Former Copper Mill Asst. Principal Keisha Thomas is now its principal.
