West Feliciana had a balanced offensive attack of 136 yards rushing and another 128 through the air as the Saints opened the season with a 28-11 home victory over Tioga.

The Saints (5-6 in 2011) defense held Tioga to 76 yards rushing and 117 yards passing on the night.

After a scoreless first quarter, West Feliciana's Javon Emery scored on a 6-yard run and Blake Meyers' PAT gave the Saints a 7-0 lead early in the second period.

Deldrick Harris recovered a fumble deep in Tioga territory and the Saints jumped ahead 14-0 on a 1-yard run by quarterback Dennis Bell.

Tioga closed the gap to 14-3 on a 31-yard field goal by Rafael Silva late in the first half.

But the Saints quickly responded as Bell connected for a 80-yard scoring strike to Jazz Ferguson as West Feliciana took a 21-3 advantage into the locker room.

After a scoreless third period, Tioga's Brandon Wright scored on a 6-yard run and Dequame Varra's two-point conversion run closed the margin to 21-11 early in the final quarter.

The Saints sealed the win with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Bell to Tre Bailey and Meyers' kick pushed West Feliciana ahead, 28-1.

Bell completed 5-of-12 passes for 128 yards in the win.

The Saints will entertain Tara this Friday. The Trojans' opening week contest at East Ascension was canceled because of Hurricane Issac.
