Angola--Come witness the annual production of The Life of Jesus Christ as performed by a cast of offenders of the Louisiana State Penitentiary and Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women. The three hour play depicts the complete story of Jesus’ life and resurrection. All aspects of this event have been orchestrated by offenders - from script adaptation, direction, casting, music, costuming and set design. There will even be live animals, including a camel!

For over 2,000 years, this story has been told to generations, and for decades The Life of Jesus Christ productions have been performed in front of large audiences throughout the world. This Peter Huntley version of the play has been performed in Scotland and Africa and now for the second time at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. See the gospel come to life as the offender troupe tells the story of his life.

Three family friendly, open-to-the-public performances will be presented as a live outdoor event at Louisiana State Penitentiary on Thursday, March 21; Friday, March 22; and Saturday, March 23, at the multi-purpose arena located in the heart of the state’s maximum-security prison.

All seats are $10 and can be purchased from the LA Prison Chapel Foundation by calling 225-931-3664, the LSP Museum at 225-655-2592 or upon your arrival at any of the performances. Gates open to the public at 9 a.m. and the show begins at 10 a.m.

Concessions will be available.

Don’t miss the live gospel music!
