A retired operator for BASF Chemical Corp. and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died peacefully at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, honorably discharged. Viewing at Hall's Celebration Center, 9348 Scenic Highway, on Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting at St. Mary Baptist Church, 1252 N. Acadian Thruway E., on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Bishop Conway L. Knighton. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Ava Vallery Williams; daughters, Sydney Williams and Shayla Boyd; son, Brandon Williams; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bertha and Lennis Vallery Jr., of Baton Rouge; a special uncle and aunt, Henry and Mary Ann Burton, of Baker; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Terrence Johnson; mother, Estella Williams; father, Thomas Williams Sr.; and brother, Roosevelt Keller. He was a graduate of McKinley High School, attended Southern University and went on to become a jet engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. His passion was for antique cars.
