LDWF agents received a tip that there was possible night hunting in the northern part of East Baton Rouge Parish.
LDWF agents, with the help of East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office deputies, investigated the tip and discovered Nicholas Tarver, 21, of Zachary, and Ryan Stogner, 20, of Denham Springs, in the area, Enforcement Division spokesperson Adam Einck said.
Agents also found a doe that the two had shot and killed in the Pride-Port Hudson area earlier in the night, Einck said.
In addition, agents discovered that Tarver and Stogner shot and killed an East Feliciana couple's pet Malamute Husky dog.
Both men have been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and 13 counts of hunting violations, the LDWF said.
The violations include taking deer during illegal hunting hours, hunting from a moving vehicle, hunting without big game licenses, violating deer tagging laws and taking deer from a public roadway, among others.
Stogner was also cited for shooting a firearm from a public road in East Baton Rouge and East Feliciana parishes.
The men both face up to $30,000 in fines and restitution if convicted on all counts, said LDWF agents.
Agents also seized a Q-beam spotlight, a Remington .308 caliber rifle, the doe and the pet husky from Tarver and Stogner.
