Two on motorcyle killed in Acadia head-on collision

RAYNE – The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Crash team continues their investigation into the motor vehicle accident that claimed the lives of two Lafayette men Thursday.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon the two deceased men who were occupants of a motorcycle have been identified as Christopher Miller, 18, of LeBesque Road, Lafayette and Dean M. White, 34, also of LeBesque Road, Lafayette.

Melancon stated that deputies at the scene learned that the motorcycle was traveling west on Quarter Pole Road and was struck head-on at the intersection of Race Track Lane and Quarter Pole Road by an automobile traveling east and being driving by Francis P. Chaisson, 60, of Rayne.

White was pronounced dead at the scene while Miller was transported by AASI Air Med to a Lafayette Hospital where he died a short time later. Chaisson was transported to American Legion Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He said charges are pending.
