Vikings lose to Scotlandville, take on winless Varnado Sept. 28

SCOTLANDVILLE--The season’s struggles continued for Northeast as Scotlandville cruised to a 40-8 win over the Vikings.

The Hornets (2-1) exploded for 19 first-quarter points, which began when Darion Williams connected with Larry Clark for a 20-yard score on their opening possession.

Dontrell Hilliard scored on a 16-yard touchdown and then Orrin Butler added a 1-yard plunge for a 19-point advantage.

Scotlandville added 14 more points in the second period, including a 41-yard interception return by Lazarius Ona early in the second frame.

Hilliard scored on a 15-yard run and then nailed another PAT to push Scotlandville ahead 33-0 at the break.

The Hornets increased their margin to 40-0 in the third period when Williams connected with Clark for a 29-yard score.

Northeast finally scored in the fourth period when Darryl Adams hit DeAndre Embry for a 30-yard touchdown and connected with Steven Jackson for the two-point conversion.

The Vikings were limited to four first downs, minus 3 yards rushing and just 31 yards passing in the loss.

The Hornets piled up 223 yards on the ground and another 212 yards through the air.

Northeast (1-2) travels to winless Varnado (0-3) on Friday, Sept. 28.
