Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., said forestry enforcement officers with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) arrested an Oak Grove man for arson Friday, July 13.

Stacy James George, 19, of 5877 Highway 2 West, Oak Grove, was booked into the West Carroll Parish Jail and charged with one count of simple arson.

George is accused of setting a fire June 29 that burned nearly 600 acres of land near the community of Kilbourne, Strain said.

George's bond is set at $10,000.

The charge carries a 10-year maximum sentence if convicted, said Strain.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the LDAF and the West Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office.
