A member of the Zachary Police Department was arrested last week and charged with domestic abuse battery, Police Chief David McDavid said.

Lt. Troy S. Eubanks, 44, has been accused of slapping his wife during an argument in front of several witnesses, said McDavid.

Eubanks, whose been with the Zachary Police Department for 24 years, was arrested by East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of domestic abuse battery on Oct. 3.

Eubanks was later released on bail.

Currently, Eubanks is on sick leave at the ZPD pending retirement.

McDavid said the lieutenant is subject to disciplinary action, including termination.

Eubanks has been removed of his service weapon and an internal affairs investigation is pending, McDavid said.
