Several Zachary residents, who also serve in the community as Chamber board members, Rotarians or Leadership NORTH participants, took a recent trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia.

The group attending the annual trip enjoyed camping and whitewater rafting down the Chatooga River, which serves as the boundary between Georgia and South Carolina. For some members of the crew, this was their first time to ride the rapids.

Jack Burk, Chamber board member and Rotarian, heads up the yearly trip as one of the main organizers and attendees.

Burk says he recruited several new people on the camping trip which had the guys staying in a large cabin in the mountains June 21 - 24.

Zachary City Councilman Brandon Noel, a first-timer, says he will definitely carve out time for the trip again. "It was unbelievable!" Noel said. "What an amazing trip, it was so beautiful, and it was a blast." It was also the first time taking the trip for Mark Anderson, Ben Cavin and Ryan Talbot.

Veterans of the trip include Jack Burk (Chamber/Rotarian), Randy Olson (Chamber/Rotarian), Pat Haggerty, Francis Nezianya (City Councilman/Rotarian), Harry Morris (Chamber/Rotarian) and Jimmy Wydell. Barry Fisher, a Zachary Rotarian, usually makes the trip but could not attend this year.
