A Zachary man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crashed head-on into a grove of pine trees in Clinton on July 3. A female passenger on the motorcycle was also injured in the accident.

The wreck, which occurred on Feliciana Drive in Clinton about 2:20 p.m Tuesday, July 3, claimed the life of Eric Arnold, 29, of Plank Road in Zachary, said Clinton Police Chief Eddie Stewart.

The passenger, Patty Goudeau, 50, was critically injured and immediately air-lifted to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, where she remained hospitalized until July 5, Stewart said.

Speed was a factor, but faulty equipment and slick tires possibly contributed to the crash, Chief Stewart said.

Clinton Police are waiting for a blood-alcohol test and the investigation into the exact cause of the crash is continuing.
