About 40 special needs students in the Zachary Community School District, along with volunteers and teachers from the adpated physical education department, gathered in Bronco Stadium at Zachary High School for the second-annual Time Trials event on Friday, March 2. The athletic event readies the athletes for the Capital Area Special Olympics event to be held in Baton Rouge March 22 - 23. The day was filled with laughter, fun and fitness. Special needs students from Zachary Elementary, Copper Mill, Northwestern Middle and Zachary High Schools participated, as well as volunteers from the Kiwanis Club, Zachary Fire and Police Departments, SASSY Club and girls track team and teachers and coaches from school district.
