The man accused of shooting his estranged wife and her male friend on Friday, May 25, in Baker, has been arrested.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office deputies responded to double shooting at 5366 Thomas Road in Baker, stated a news release issued Friday by Casey Rayborn Hicks, spokesperson for EBRSO.

Jaime Davenport, 33, of 1826 72nd Ave. and James Ledell Brown, 44, of 5366 Thomas Rd., were both found dead in front of Brown's residence, Hicks stated.

The shootings occurred in the front yard of Brown's home where Scales allegedly argued with both Davenport and Brown before shooting them, the release stated.

Authorities had a suspect and were in the process of obtaining a warrant, said Hicks.

The news release asked anyone with any information concerning the shooting to contact EBRSO or Crime Stoppers.

On Saturday, May 26, a "concerned resident" did report seeing the suspect, Alfred Scales, 48, at a convenience store near the intersection of Hwy. 19 and LA 10, stated Hicks.

Three law enforcement agencies - East Feliciana Sheriff's Office, Slaughter Police Department and Jackson Police Department - arrested Scales about 6:30 p.m., Hicks said.

Scales is the estranged husband of Davenport.

Scales was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder before being questioned and transported to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Hicks said.
