Micael Adams, 40, of McHugh Road in Zachary, was arrested and charged with a sexual crime involving a juvenile, said Herty.
Police said a week prior to being arrested, the young girl told detectives, in the presence of her step-mother, the accused entered her room, closed the door and began telling her repeatedly that she was pretty.
The juvenile said she woke up and asked Adams what he was doing in her room, Herty said.
Herty said Adams proceeded to rub the young girl's leg and told her he loved her more than her mother.
The girl also said he told her she was prettier than her mother and that he wished she was on his arm rather than her mother, said Herty.
Herty said Adams asked the girl to engage in foreplay, and told her she could perform oral sex on him but didn't have to have sexual intercourse.
Adams promised the girl anything she wanted if she did this for him, said Herty.
When the girl refused, Herty said Adams replied, "Damn, I messed up."
According to the police report, the juvenile told relatives of the incident and was accompanied to the ZPD to file a report against Adams.
Zachary detectives believe Adams committed aggravated incest by requesting the juvenile perform sexual acts for his gratification while caressing her leg to attempt to arouse her sexually, Herty said.
Adams was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The 14-year-old girl involved is the step-daughter of the accused, to whom her mother is married. The girl lived in the home with her mother and the accused.
The 14-year-old told her step-mother (who is married to the girl's biological father) of the incidents which occurred the week of Nov. 8.
The step-mother accompanied the girl to authorities.

§78. Incest
A. Incest is the marriage to, or sexual intercourse with, any ascendant or descendant, brother or sister, uncle or niece, aunt or nephew, with knowledge of their relationship.
B. The relationship must be by consanguinity, but it is immaterial whether the parties to the act are related to one another by the whole or half blood.
C. This Section shall not apply where one, not a resident of this state at the time of the celebration of his marriage, shall have contracted a marriage lawful at the place of celebration and shall thereafter have removed to this state.
