Participation in the program is open to persons living or working in Baton Rouge, Zachary, Central, Baker, Pointe Coupee, East and West Feliciana Parishes who have the full support of the organization or business they represent.
The program is designed to engage emerging leaders in the region and prepare them to meet the future needs of their communities.
"Our goal is to provide a medium for young leaders to connect and develop a comprehensive understanding of vital issues affecting the northern capital region." “Opportunities and challenges extend beyond political boundaries. Forming alliances with our neighbors, making the northern region better place to live and work, benefits everyone involved" said Mills.
Emerging leaders from the north capital region are currently being nominated. The Zachary Chamber of Commerce is seeking future leaders from this area to participate in the 20 spots available. The deadline for returning an application is set for Monday, January 24.
The program will consist of monthly half-day training sessions beginning in March and lasting until November. Future leaders can expect to engage in numerous activities from enhancing negotiation skills and working with groups to expanding their knowledge of regional economic opportunities and state and local government structures.
