Suspect sought in Hancock Bank robbery

UPDATE: Police are tracking the suspect who they say has a bag of cash in which the dye pack has exploded.

On Tuesday, April 19, about 3 p.m., the Hancock Bank located at 8778 Bluebonnet Blvd., was robbed.

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has issued a press release detailing the incident.

The robber, a white male, approached a teller, handed her a note demanding cash and told her he had a gun. However, he never produced a weapon, the press release stated.

The teller gave the robber $1,723 in cash, in addition to handing him a dye pack that held $80 in currency. The suspect then ran out of the bank and headed north on Bluebonnet.

The dye pack has not yet been recovered nor is it known if it exploded.

The suspect is described as a white male, slender build, clean shaven, wearing a black sports coat, light blue or light gray buttoned-up collared shirt, black LSU cap, black pants, black shoes and sunglasses.
