Charges pending in fatal truck-train crash

CROWLEY – Charges are pending as investigation continues into a truck-train collision that killed a Scott woman on Wednesday.

The accident happened about 1 p.m. at the intersection of Old Spanish Trail and Hwy. 90 near Estherwood.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, the BNSF train traveling from Beaumont , Texas enroute to Lafayette and was testing tracks when it collided with a pickup attempting to cross the tracks.

The driver of the vehicle, Derrick Mouton, 24, of Coon Richard Road, Morse was transported by Air Med to Our Lady of Lourdes in stable condition. The passenger, Katelan Chenna Foster, 20, of Denmark Road, Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no lights or crossing arms at the grade crossing.
