As the citizens of Louisiana respond to a historic flood threat, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles is working to ensure that services are not interrupted. The following information is provided to the citizens who may be affected by the rising flood waters.

If the local OMV office is closed, residents can conduct their regular business at any other OMV facility or may obtain information from OMV Headquarters in Baton Rouge by calling (225)925-6146.  Office locations, maps, FAQ’s, and many direct services are also available online through OMV’s Website at www.expresslane.org .

Residents with driver’s license problems, such as cancellations or suspensions, can pay reinstatement fees using a credit card by calling the DMV Line at (225) 925-6146 after they have mailed, emailed, or faxed in needed documentation.

Evacuated residents are reminded not to leave important papers such as driver’s licenses, identification cards, vehicle titles and registrations, social security cards, or birth certificates behind when they leave their homes.

“Customer service continues to be our priority at the Office of Motor Vehicles,” said OMV Commissioner Nick Gautreaux.  “Providing convenient services to our customers is even more important when they are forced to deal with the challenges of evacuating their homes.”
