Vikings fall to Tara

BATON ROUGE – Northeast fell to 1-2 on the season after a 29-8 loss to Tara at Olympia Stadium on Friday night.

Tara (1-2) took a 6-0 lead on a 62-yard pass from John Washington to Kaelon Stevenson in the first quarter.

Aaron Wright scored on a 3-yard run to give the Trojans a 12-0 halftime lead.

Wright added an 11-yard touchdown run in the third period and Pahseen Qasem’s PAT gave the Trojans a 19-0 lead.

Qasem nailed a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to increase Tara’s lead to 22-0 before Tyrick Nelson scored on a 29-yard run to give the Trojans a 29-0 advantage.

Northeast made an exciting score late in the game when Jalen Snowden raced 80-yards on a strike from Ronnie Davis. Davis ran in the two-point conversion to close the final margin to 29-8.

Tara rushed for 171 yards and added 155 more in the air against the Northeast defense as Washington completed 11-of-16 passes.

Nelson gained 138 yards on 15 carries to lead the Trojans ground attack.

Stevenson finished with three catches for 75 yards, including the 62-yard touchdown.

Snowden finished with 127 yards on five catches and a touchdown for the Vikings.

Northeast recorded 132 yards passing as Davis completed 6-of-18 passes. The Vikings finished with

only 15 yards rushing against the Trojans.

Northeast entertains undefeated 5-A Scotlandville this week.
