The Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge Parish will cancel the Rollins Road Park grand opening ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., on 5794 Rollins Road in Zachary, due to poor weather conditions. The grand opening ceremony has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m.

This 10.5-acre park features a new covered basketball court converted from an existing tennis court, new concrete walkways, parking improvements and a refurbished baseball backstop and bleachers. Existing site amenities include a playground, and a lighted baseball field.

Franklin L. Lassiter, AIA, designed the master plan. BREC’s planning and engineering team oversaw site improvements. JReed Constructors, Inc. served as the general contractor.

Park improvements were made possible by the "Imagine Your Parks" tax passed by East Baton Rouge Parish voters in 2004.

It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all residents of East Baton Rouge Parish.
