Just in time for the holidays, the Zachary Community School District is unveiling a Memorial Tree and Bench Program. Perfect for gift-giving, the new program provides a way to honor a loved one, celebrate a special event, or honor an individual or organization that has made a difference in our schools and community.

Donors may choose the option of purchasing a tree or a bench to be placed at any of the Zachary Community School District sites. Various types of trees are available including bald cypress, red oak, crape myrtle and magnolia. The cost to purchase any of these trees is $400. The cost to purchase a live oak is $600, and donors who select a live oak will have the option of purchasing an approved monument sign to be located near the tree for an additional cost.

Trees will be purchased and placed according to the landscape plan at the school site and will be planted in the ideal planting season, said Zachary Community School spokesperson Adonica Duggan.

Prices for a bench range from $800 - $1200 and includes installation engraved name plate on memorial plaque at school site.

Bench style and placement will be determined by the Zachary Community School District based on current need. Donors will have a preference as to which school site their benches will be placed.

The Memorial Tree and Bench Program allows donors to play a role in the beautification of Zachary schools for many years to come. To purchase a memorial tree or bench, donors should contact their school of preference. For more information, please contact Scott Devillier, Director of Operations, ZCSD, at 658-4969.
