The 6th annual (ZFest) Zachary Arts & Music Festival will be a weekend full of activities for all art and music lovers. There will be various genres of music filling Zachary Youth Park, 1650 Mt. Pleasant Road/Hwy. 64, and the BREC Zachary Community Park, 20055 Old Scenic Highway.
Food and fun will abound. Artisans will be set up all over the park displaying and selling their work and thousands of people are expected to attend this year’s event.
In an effort to promote and enhance the economic, business and community development of Zachary, the Chamber Board of Directors has elected to improve the festivities for 2012 with the following substantive changes, which they feel will cater to a broader range of Zachary residents, families and businesses plus create a regional attraction.
The changes will:
• Enhance cultural elements of ZFest by focusing on regional artisans, culinary flavor and music
• Utilize all grounds available, including both the Zachary Youth Park and the adjacent BREC Zachary Community Park
• Partner with BREC to have a children’s village designed to entertain and instruct even the youngest kids with various inflatables, kayak lessons, a petting zoo and much more
• Provide onsite parking which will be available to all festival participants
• Reduce the duration of the event
• Provide the opportunity to sell beverages containing alcohol (beer) by using a sensitive, controlled approach
• Recruit entertainment that will attract regional interests
“We are very excited about the improvements to the festival this year, and we have hired a professional event coordinator, Megan Andrews, to schedule and direct the festival," said Chip Mills, Executive Director of Economic Development for the Chamber. "BREC and the City of Zachary have been wonderful partners. The last five years have been great, but this is going to be a significantly different and much improved ZFest."
