Empty Bowls, a grassroots movement to end world hunger at the local level, is an annual effort on behalf of the art students and teachers at Zachary High School. Also, a teacher-student art show is held in conjunction with the Empty Bowls event.

This year's Empty Bowls/Art Show is scheduled for Saturday, March 31. The art show will be held in the ZHS atrium and Empty Bowls event in the cafeteria, both from 5 - 8 p.m.

One hundred percent of the proceeds benefits the Zachary Food Pantry.

Students and teachers will design and craft their own pottery bowls and original works of art to sell. Admission to the art show is FREE, and tickets for the Empty Bowls event is $10. Attendees must purchase a ticket for the Empty Bowls event and each person will receive an original pottery bowl of their choosing, which will be then be filled with gumbo. The bowl is yours to keep and will serve as a reminder of each person's effort to help end world hunger at a local level.

Tickets are on sale now at Zachary High, Chris's Specialty Meats and the Bank of Zachary, main office.
