Jeanell Varnadore, an LSU Anthropology major and 2011 ZHS graduate, will be holding a multi-family garage sale on March 10 to raise money to help pay for an Internal Student Volunteer trip to Thailand in August at 5928 Fennwood Drive from 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

International Student Volunteers recruit students on college campuses to volunteer for two weeks at numerous locations around the world. The volunteer projects focus on conservation and community development.

Varnadore’s volunteer project in Thailand will incorporate some of the following work:

• Care and rehabilitation of rescued elephants and monkeys

• Construction of schools and playgrounds for impoverished children

• Teaching English to orphaned and underprivileged children

• Community infrastructure improvements such as schools

• Wildlife research and protection

• Protection of vital mangrove ecosystems

• Developing eco-tourism practices for rural communities.

• Sustainable development in rural fishing and hill tribes communities

• Environmental education programs

Donations of items for the garage sale can be dropped off at 5928 Fennwood Drive or call 301-5625 to arrange for a pick-up of items. Please come out to support Varnadore in her mission on march 10. Cash donations will be accepted and greatly appreciated.
