According to the news report, the cancellation came with less than 24 hours notice for parents, but classes are expected to resume on Thursday, March 15.
Zachary Community Schools are on normal schedule for Wednesday, March 14.
"Our teachers and students will be in class tomorrow focused on preparing for next week's state testing," said Zachary Community Schools Superintendent Warren Drake, in an email to the Plainsman. "We have not had any reports of unusually high employee absences scheduled. Our schools have received a few calls from parents wanting to know if we will be open tomorrow because we are in East Baton Rouge Parish. Our focus continues to be on teaching and learning."
Teachers and educators are concerned about changes in public education proposed by Governor Jindal, including a change that might impact the tenure of some teachers, EBRP School Board Vice President Tarvaid Smith told WAFB.
The news station also reports that Vermillion Parish schools have canceled classes for Wednesday.
