Dear Editor, perhaps it is none of my business since I live in West Monroe and not in Zachary. However, I would nonetheless like to ask why the sign pointing people to Zachary was taken down some years back and never replaced.

Now, my reason for asking is simply this: My wife and I visit a Baton Rouge doctor every six months.

On our first trip there some years ago, we spotted the Zachary sign and decided to see the town. It seemed a very peaceful area to live and looked very clean. Like I say, the sign pointed us to your town and upon entering from Hwy. 61, we discovered a great restaurant by the name of Sammy's. We had a meal there and continue to this day to stop and eat there.

Also, my wife, the wonderful woman that she is, has to enter a store or two on every visit, hence a few tax dollars are placed into your coffers.

If the sign attracted us, then surely it also attracts others. Like I say, it's your town, but being raised myself in a small town like Tallulah, it just makes sense to want folks coming in and spending money.

I'll just bet a new sign directing people to your wonderful community would pay for itself fairly quickly.

Thank You, and Have a Good Day -

Rudy Hernandez

Help! We need a traffic light at Carpenter Rd. and Main street. I live near the intersection and am constantly hearing screetching brakes, horns blowing, and seeing frequent accidents. It is impossible to turn left from Carpenter Rd. onto Main street, so most all trafic detours behind Chili's parking lot to Hwy. 19. I pray no one gets killed before something is done.
