Pastor, schools founder

SHREVEPORT – Services will be Sunday for pastor Dr. Billy McCormack. He died May 31 at age 83.

He had been pastor of University Worship Center since 1980 and was a minister for more than 60 years. He was founder and headmaster of Trinity Heights Christian Academy, University Christian Prep and University Montessori School.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, a son and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Auto parts company founder

EUNICE – Services will be Saturday for auto supply company founder Joseph Curney Sattler. He died May 31 at age 85.

He started a number of businesses, including Sattler Supply Co., which is operated for more than 50 years.

Now owned by his son and two grandsons, the firm operates in Eunice as well as Lafayette, Broussard, Opelousas and Deridder.

Survivors include his wife Irene and three sons.

Arrangements are by Ardoin’s.

Dietician

GREENWELL SPRINGS – Services for dietician Emily Bullock will be Saturday. She died May 31 at age 89.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and former president of the American Dietetic Association.

Survivors include three children.

Optical outlet founder

BATON ROUGE – Services for pharmacist and optical business owner Robert Lewis, Jr. will be Saturday. He died May 31 at age 78.

He was a past president of the Louisiana Pharmacy Association and founder and owner of Payless Optical Outlets.

Survivors include his wife Jacqueline, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst East.

Episcopal priest

ARNAUDVILLE – Services for retired Navy chaplain and Episcopal priest Rev. Canon Larry G. Wilkes will be Saturday. He died May 28 at age 61.

He was a Navy corpsman for 21 years before retiring and entering the priesthood. He rejoined the Navy as a commissioned chaplain. Following a second retirement he was rector of Church of the Ascension for four years, leaving to work as the Canon to the Ordinary. He was priest for Church of the Epiphany in New Iberia at his death.

Survivors include his wife and three children.

Hydrocarbon analyst

PEARLAND, Texas – Services will be Saturday for hydrocarbon analyst Herman Brown. He died May 27 at age 80.

He had been chairman of the board, president and CEO of Southern Petroleum Laboratories, one of the nation’s premier hydrocarbon analytical and measurement companies.

Survivors include his wife Deborah, three sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Crowder.

Long-time physician

LECOMPTE – Services for long-time physician Dr. David Carlton will be Sunday. He died at age 88.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he practiced medicine in Lecompte beginning in 1952, his practice eventually being known as the Carlton & Luke Clinic. He was a former president of the parish and state medical societies. He was state chairman of the March of Dimes and chairman of the committee which formed Rapides High School.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter.
