LAKE PROVIDENCE – Services for former national chairwoman of the DAR and insurance executive Pat Evans Knobles will be Friday. She died June 11 at age 84.
She was a member of the board of Friends of the Louisiana Cotton Museum and on the board of Bankers Life of Louisiana. She held several state DAR offices before becoming national chairwoman.
Survivors include four children.
Oil & gas exec, Centenary athlete
SHREVEPORT -- Services will be Friday for former oil and gas executive J. Howard Hooper. He died June 11 at age 96.
He was an all-state basketball player in high school at Bastrop and was a three-year football and basketball letterman at Centenary University. He was captain of both teams one year.
He was regional exploration manager for the oil & gas division of Chicago Corp. before becoming an independent petroleum industry landman. He was a charter member of the Shreveport Petroleum Club.
Survivors include a daughter.

SHREVEPORT – Services for Conrad Gehl, owner of the first McDonald’s franchise in Northwest Louisiana, will be Thursday. He died June 10 at age 82.
He worked in finance for GMAC before opening his first McDonald’s in 1966.
Survivors include his wife Dolores and three children.
Arrangements are by Centuries Memorial.
Bodybuilder, fitness founder
MONROE – Services for bodybuilder and fitness center founder Charles Goudeau will be Thursday. He died June 11 at age 63.
He opened his first center in 1970 and provided fitness programs to more than 100,000 customers before selling the business. He received the President’s Business of the Year Award in Louisiana in 1982 from President Ronald Reagan.
Survivors include a son.
