During this camp kids will work with position-specific coaches to go over individualized drills related to their position. They will also get to test and record their skills in the 40-Yard Dash, Pro Agility Shuttle, Broad Jump, Vertical Jump and Bench Press.
High school student-athletes will gather at the 3rd annual camp hosted by Just Maximizing Potential (JMP) to develop their fundamentals, showcase their talents, discover where they stand among their recruiting class, gain official measurements and maybe even raise the eyebrows of a college scout or two.
Unless a high school player is a top-level prospect it’s hard to draw the attention of recruiters. Not anymore says Jerren Pierce, a former Southeastern Louisiana University wide receiver and founder of Just Maximizing Potential, a Louisiana-based organization designed to help high school student athletes gain exposure to college recruiters.
“Having been through the high school and college football ranks, I know firsthand how difficult it is to break through,” said Pierce. “Insider tips, guidance and training can go a long way to raising your recruitment stock.”
This comprehensive event will test and record each participant’s abilities through a series of specific pro-style drills and tests; the results will then be officially certified for NCAA use and sent to colleges across the country.
Also, skills of the game will be taught to all student athletes throughout the day.
Although all football players are welcome, this camp focuses on building buzz around players who have yet to receive the kind of national attention they deserve and to also help them develop as better players for their respective teams.
"I noticed a progressive change in my abilities and work ethic,” said Landries Jackson, a 2012 graduate of St. Augustine High School and scholarship recipient of Millsaps College. “Every workout at the JMP camp pushed me to my limits. I definitely recommend it to anyone trying to reach the next level.”
Football players registering for the skills camp will be tested in areas crucial to college recruitment, such as the 40-yard dash, Pro Agility Shuttle, Broad Jump, Vertical Jump, Bench Press and 1-on-1 Drills. With these measurements on file college scouts can track down any player and set them on the road to stardom.
Interested high school athletes can register online at www.JustMP.com for $80. Team discounts are available. Camp registration begins at 7 a.m. with all events starting at 8 a.m. - running will be until 3 p.m.
