The 4th annual Johnny Wales Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be held Saturday, July 14, at Zachary Youth Park.

The majority of the money raised goes toward a scholarship for a graduating Zachary High School senior, with a portion of the proceeds going the MS Foundation in Johnny Wales’ name.

Wales lived with the disease for 15 years.

The community is invited to come out and support this wonderful event - either to play or root on your favorite team.

Concessions will be sold at the event along with t-shirts.

When the Wales Memorial tournament first began four years ago, $500 was raised for a scholarship and was awarded to a lucky ZHS graduate.

The next year, $1,000 was given to a graduating senior, followed by a $1,500 scholarship.

In 2012, the Wales family was able to award two scholarships to two seniors. "It was because of all the support we received from the Zachary community we were able to do what we did last year," the Wales family said. "We're hoping to continue the tradition."
