Matthew and Heather (Ponder) Smith of Zachary are proud to announce the birth of their second child, Avery Nicole Smith. This is the second child born to the happy couple.

Little Avery was born Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 3:41 a.m. at Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge. She weighed a tiny

2 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 15 inches long.

Avery Nicole was welcomed home by her big sister, Madison Smith, 2.

Proud maternal grandparents are Jeff and Debbie Ponder of Zachary. Proud paternal grandparents are Aubrey and Debbie Smith of Zachary.

Great-grandparents (maternal) are the very proud Robert and Barbara Adams of Zachary and the very proud paternal great-grandparents, Ada-Belle Smith and the late Aubrey Smith, Sr., of Sandersville, Miss.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the Antepartum, Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby departments at Women's Hospital for taking special care of mom during her stay.

An extra-special thanks goes out to the NICU and Special Care Nursery for taking such great care of our beautiful daughter, Avery Nicole!
