Commander Art Record relieved Commander Lia Reynolds as commanding officer of Naval Legal Service Office (NLSO) Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia in a change of command ceremony held at the Naval Support Activity, Naples, Italy chapel on June 26.

Naval Legal Service Command Chief of Staff Captain Karen-Fischer-Anderson served as guest speaker at the event.

The traditional ceremony included remarks by Captain Fischer-Anderson, who commended Commander Reynolds on her service as commanding officer and challenged Commander Record to continue to build upon the command's already stellar reputation for providing the highest-quality legal assistance and defense services to sailors, Marines, their family members and other eligible clients across three continents.

After official remarks, Commander Record read his orders and, with the words "I relieve you, Ma'am" assumed command.

In his new position, he will be the regional defense counsel for Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. In addition to representing service members in courts-martial, Record will oversee the provision of client services and training of young judge advocates and paralegals across the EURAFSWA area of responsibility.

Commander Record is a 1989 Graduate of Zachary High School, Rhodes College, Mississippi College School of Law and the U. S. Navy War College.

He is the son of Warren and Sandi Record. He is also the grandson of Drucilla and the late Gaylon Davidson and June Record and the late Charles “Rex” Record.
