A ribbon-cutting was held at Adonai’s Butterflies Dance Studio, 1145 Sunshine Drive, corner of Groom Road, in Baker on Aug. 8.

Participating in the event were Baker's Councilman Charles Vincent, Councilman Pete Heine, Studio Director and Instructor Ariel Adams, Baker Mayor Harold Rideau, Councilwoman Joyce Burges and Baker Chamber of Commerce President Duane Jordan.

The studio is now enrolling students; call (225) 266-5922 for more information.

Adams and her family moved from New Orleans, where she directed two liturgical dance groups, to Baker following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After Katrina, the dancers were dispersed to areas across the country.

Adams has studied in New Orleans under Ballet Hysell, Joseph Giacobbe and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
