Lady Broncos end playoff run with loss to St. Mary's Dominican

The Zachary High Lady Bronco Volleyball team ended their run for the state championship Monday night, Nov. 5, at St. Mary's Dominican High School after a loss of 24-14.

The regional round of the state playoffs was played in New Orleans and for ZHS, who was ranked 12th, they fought hard against Dominican, ranked 4th.

"The Lady Broncos practiced and played hard all season to get to the state playoffs," said Coach Madeline Blanchard-Gugich.

She, Asst. Coach Janie Tidwell, the girls' parents, family, friends and high school are all very proud of them.

Varsity player Chelsea Soileau led the Lady Broncos with four kills.

Keandra Williams had three kills and three blocks, while Tia Coleman had three kills and two blocks.

Lady Bronco Kaylan Hebert led the team with an impressive 30 digs.

"This team has a lot to be proud of," said parent Sharron Ventura, whose daughter is JV player Alexis Ventura.

Congratulations, ZHS Lady Broncos, for making it to the Regionals ~ Zachary is proud of you!
