Jared Robinson, choral director at Baker Middle School, accompanied Marceya Myers and Kirstin Price as they sang “Mary, Did You Know.”
Members of the newly created Baker High School Jazz Band under the direction of Kedric Taylor entertained the crowd with several stirring selections.
On saxophone were Michael Bingham and Taylor Johnson; trumpet, Myron Matthews, Brendan Morgan and Jacob Page; trombone, Michael Mitchell and Joshua Robertson; tuba, Joshua Mulder and Justin Taylor; and Jeremy “Hot Dog” Fisher on the trap set.
Bingham also sang “Ordinary People,” accompanying himself on a keyboard.
Walter Perry, founder and director of The Trumpet Choir, presented trumpeters Keymonte Avery, Jeremiah Cameron, Henry Granbouche, Jarrod Paulin, Christopher Pavageau, Jacolby Sanders, Cailyn Smith, Cameron Stewart, Gary Turner, Clarence Welsh and Brian Williams.
They played several selections and then accompanied Perry as he played a solo of “What Child Is This.” Perry is also band director at McKinley High School.
Tameka Jones sang “Come All Ye Faithful” and Joyce Burges sang “Blessed Assurance.” Chasity Jones served as mistress of ceremonies. The event was sponsored by the Baker Heritage Museum and chaired by De’Ette Perry, board member. Door prizes were handled by Jean Byers, museum director.
The evening ended with cookies and punch.
