I am sorry to say I don’t have a good answer for what to think regarding these athletes' past accomplishments.
But, I do have an answer for what we should do now. Let’s stop worrying so much about the past. It is gone, and I am ready to move on.
I want the Livestrong organization to be able to raise money to inspire those dealing with cancer. That is the bottom line.
As for Lance Armstrong, I hope he is able to live as he chooses whether that is to live the rest of his life in the background enjoying his family or in the limelight teaching through his life experiences.
As for baseball, I am much more concerned with the number of franchises that are in MLB just to claim they are in the sport. Situations with teams such as in Miami are of more concern to me than who is in or out of the Hall of Fame.
For the record, I love traditions and remembering past accomplishments.
But, we remember history to learn lessons or to enjoy wonderful memories.
There is a great Arab proverb which says:
“Write bad things that are done to you in the sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble.”
This recent past era of baseball and cycling can be written in sand, and now it is time to move on.
