Superdome commissioner

CHESTNUT – Services for Texaco distributor, timberman and former Superdome Commission member Roland Dobson will be Saturday. He died Jan. 17 at age 82.

He was a board member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and served two terms on the Superdome Commission, appointed by Gov. Edwin Edwards. He was a charter member of the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation.

Survivors include his wife Margin and a son.

Arrangements are by Blanchard-St. Denis.

Oil and gas attorney

NEW ORLEANS – Services for attorney and civic leader John ‘Jack’ Gordon will be Monday. He died Jan. 16 at age 86.

He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a lawyer specializing in oil and gas and energy law and was a founding partner of Gordon, Arata & McCollam, which employs 60 lawyers in four offices in Louisiana and Texas. He served as general counsel to the Sewerage & Water Board and president of the Audubon Commission.

Survivors include his wife Betty, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Lakelawn.
