A battle to the end, Zachary Police detectives, officers and reserves played Zachary firefighters - career and contract - in the first annual Guns & Hoses Flag Football Fundraiser Thursday night in Bronco Stadium.

Although it was the Guns from the ZPD who scored first, it was the ZFD Hoses who came out on top with a final score of 56-42.

A nice crowd attended the inaugural game which was held to raise money for volunteer programs within both the departments.

ZHS Cheerleaders helped pump up fans and all were treated to a rendition of the National Anthem by Ethel's Megan Miller, who is headed for American Idol fame in Hollywood!

The Hoses won the coin toss, but it was the Guns who scored first, making it an exciting game for the rest of the night.

All of the officers and firefighters played well together, putting on a great show for all who attended the friendly game of flag football.

ZHS Head Football Coach Neil Weiner and Asst. Coach Cade Worsham refereed the game.

It is unknown at this time how much money was raised, but be sure to pick up a copy of the Zachary Plainsman on Feb. 5 for more news and exciting - and hilarious - photos from the Guns & Hoses Flag Football Fundraiser game!
