He is the son of the late Peter Ratkovic and Thelma Champagne Ratkovic. He served as Past Commander of Disabled American Veterans in Baton Rouge, La. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Marine Corps League and Lancaster Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Veterans Association of the US Iowa.
A service to celebrate the life of Ratkovic will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Commissioned Lay Pastor Paul E. Smith officiating. Burial will be private.
Ratkovic is survived by his wife, Joanne Farrell Ratkovic of Lancaster; two sons, Commander Cameron P. Ratkovic and his wife Christine of Newport, Rhode Island, and William D. Squires and his wife Jodi of West Orange, New Jersey; two daughters, Eileen M. Zschoche and her husband John of Blythewood, S. Carolina, and Kathleen M. Mangiarelli and her husband Alphonse of West Orange, N. Jersey; one brother, Grant H. Ratkovic of San Mateo, Calif; and three grandchildren, Ashley Forgere, Sean Squires and Sydney Squires.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Worrier Project or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2 Vosseler Court, West Orange, NJ, 07052, on behalf of Cameron’s Grandson, Sean, who has cystic Fibrosis.
