She is a graduate of Paul L. Dunbar High School and Grambling State University.
She has been married to her husband, Joseph Thomas, Sr., for 37 years. They are the parents of four children: Yolanda Landry, Joseph Thomas, Jr., and Betty Thomas, all of Crowley; and Virginia Bob of Houston.
They are also the proud grandparents of four: Jasmine (Jazz), Alexia (Lexy), Joseph III (Buster B) and Julian (Juli Bug).
Mrs. Thomas is a retired State of Louisiana employee, retiring after 31 1/2 years of exemplary services with the Department of Health and Hospitals.
Since retiring, Mrs. Thomas volunteers much of her time in the community assisting mostly disabled or elderly citizens, and as a Pink Lady at American Legion Hospital.
She is also an avid worker in her church community and serves on several different committees, such as, the Pastor Aide Committee, Chairman of the Revival Committee and is a devoted Sunday school teacher.
