Area fourth graders were asked to participate in The Gazette’s “Draw Your Dad Contest,” and winners would have their drawings, dedicated to their dads, featured in the newspaper. The top three drawings from each school were selected, and three overall winners were chosen from the first place winners at each school. The judging was difficult, but finally three overall winners were recognized. Overall first place winner Kayla Lazard, a student at Vidrine Elementary, said her father, Darwan Lazard, is special because “He’s always there for me.” Overall second place winner Amanda Fisher, a student at Bayou Chicot Elementary, said her father, Michael Manuel, is special because “He provides me a shelter and food.” Overall third place winner Cora Manuel, a student at Mamou Elementary, said her father, Brendon Manuel, is special because “He does many things with me like taking me camping.” Don’t forget to share your special thoughts with your dad on Father’s Day, which will be observed Sunday, June 15. We thank all of our schools for assisting us with this project. The teachers were great in helping us to organize this coloring project. Other entries are also shown here.
