With the increase of calls, officers made 124 arrest, 116 being adult and 8 being juvenile. During the same time frame, officers investigated 69 traffic accidents. Of these accidents, 31 occurred on the roadway, 21 occurred on private property and 7 were hit and run accidents.
Of the arrest made, 31 were narcotics arrest, 30 were for outstanding warrants, 17 were for battery or domestic battery, 14 were for disturbing the peace, 13 were traffic related arrest with 7 of the traffic tickets being for “Boom Box” violation. In addition to these arrest, 5 were for theft, 1 was for a robbery and an additional 5 were for city ordinance violations.
“The LACE overtime program is working well, though we are still seeing an high rate of speed and recurring violations,” stated Chief Gibson.
Those arrested are Dwan Drawasand, 29, of Crowley, charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana; Mary Martien, 49, of Crowley, charged with possession of crack cocaine; Melissa Schexnider, 31, of Crowley, charged with possession of crack cocaine; Demetrius Guidry, 27, of Crowley, charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine; Christopher St. Andre, 20, of Rayne, charged with possession of schedule II and IV narcotics; Adrian Byers, 21, of Crowley, charged with possession with the intent to distribute schedule II narcotics; Ervin Edwards, 32, of Jennings, charged with possession of schedule II and IV narcotics; Marlon Mott, 25, of Crowley, charged with distribution of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana; Shawn Brown, 35, of Crowley, charged with possession of schedule II narcotics and possession of marijuana; and Kenneth Harvey, 51, of Amite, charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
The Crowley Police Department Narcotics Divisionis partially fund via grants through the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement.
