
The 16th Annual Viande Boucanée Pageant was held Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Northside Civic Center. Three new queens and their runners-up were selected to represent the festival, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #632 and the City of Ville Platte for the next year.
Teen Miss: Ainsley Elise Leonards, the 16-year-old daughter of Joel and Christie Leonards of Bunkie, was chosen Teen Miss Viande Boucanée. The new queen is a junior at St. Joseph High School, where she is a member of 4-H, the Senior Beta Club and SADD. She volunteers with Village de Memoire in Ville Platte and the Tri-Community Nursing Center in Palmetto. Her hobbies include baking, dancing, shopping, four-wheeler riding and spending time with family and friends.
